Pediatric Dentistry

A dental home where kids actually want to come back — gentle care, fun visits, and Netflix in every room.

Pediatric dentistry for children at Smile Avenue Family Dentistry

UNDERSTANDING THE BASICS

What Is Pediatric Dentistry?

Pediatric dentistry focuses on the oral health of infants, children, and teenagers. At Smile Avenue, we believe that a child's first dental experiences shape their attitude toward dental care for life — so we make every visit fun, gentle, and positive.

Our kid-friendly approach includes Netflix and streaming entertainment in every treatment room, treasure chest prizes after visits, and a warm, patient team that knows how to put even the most nervous little ones at ease. We treat children like the VIPs they are.

Children's dental needs are different from adults. Their teeth are still developing, and early intervention can prevent problems that would be much harder to fix later. We focus on preventive care — sealants, fluoride treatments, and education — to set your child up for a lifetime of healthy smiles.

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that children have their first dental visit by age one or within six months of their first tooth erupting. Early visits help us catch potential issues like alignment problems, tooth decay risk, and developmental concerns before they become bigger problems.

IS THIS RIGHT FOR YOU?

Who Needs Pediatric Dentistry?

You may benefit from pediatric dentistry if any of the following apply to you:

  • Your child is approaching their first birthday or has their first tooth
  • Your child needs their first dental exam and cleaning
  • You want to protect your child's teeth with sealants or fluoride treatments
  • Your child has a cavity or tooth pain
  • You're concerned about thumb-sucking, pacifier use, or bite development
  • Your child is anxious about the dentist and needs a gentle approach
  • Your teenager needs wisdom teeth evaluation or orthodontic assessment

WHAT TO EXPECT

The Pediatric Dentistry Process

01

Welcome & Tour

We give your child a fun tour of the office, show them the tools, and let them pick a show to watch. No surprises — just friendly faces.

02

Gentle Exam

The dentist examines your child's teeth, gums, and bite development using kid-sized instruments. We explain everything in age-appropriate language.

03

Cleaning & Prevention

A gentle cleaning followed by fluoride treatment and sealants if recommended. We teach brushing and flossing techniques in a fun way.

04

Report & Next Steps

We share findings with parents, discuss any concerns, and schedule the next visit. Your child picks a prize from the treasure chest!
